Star Wars Baby Quilt

Guess what time it is? Time for sharing ANOTHER baby quilt for a little one in my life! Last month I completed my 8th quilt for the nieces and nephews in my life! If you haven’t seen some of my others, Check out my first Elephant Quilt then my Half Square Triangle Quilt. They are just a few that were actually posted on the blog! (links coming soon)

This recent one is for our newest nephew Sinead. My sister and her husband planned a Star Wars theme for this little one and I was so excited when I got to pink the feminine versions of the Star Wars prints out there! So let’s take a look at the newest baby quilt I created!

For this baby quilt, I used the Yellow Brick Road Pattern by Atkinson Designs. It is one of my favourite patterns to use because each time you make it, it looks different! It’s also fairly easy to put together. Normally for a baby quilt, you use 6 different prints but I stuck with 4 so I could use as much as the star wars fabric as I could.

Miss Sinead loves her quilt!

To keep costs down, I did both a scrappy binding and backing. Not only did it keep the costs down but it gives the quilt the option to be reversible! Plus I love scrappy binding!

Such a sweet and delicate quilt for a sweet babes!

For the quilting, I kept it simple and did a deep wave across the width. It’s one of my favourite quilting designs to do because it is subtle and still effective.

Overall this was one of my favourite baby quilts to make. the colo9urs just fell together so beautifully and gives a delicate touch to what is generally a very strong print.

For those interested, the fabrics I used are:

  • White Star Wars Watercolour Namers w/metallic – Camelot Cotton
  • Star Wars Fabric S.W. Watercolor X-Wing in Blue – Camelot Cotton
  • Tiny Dots White on White – Kimberbell Basics
  • Shadow Play Teal – Maywood Studios
  • Savanna Sunset Flowers on Shell – Figo Fabrics

I loved making this quilt so much and guess what? I get to make another baby quilt very soon for another babe on the way for my other sister! I’m so excited!

Do you have something you make for all the littles in your life too?
