So you got a new planner and stocked up on stickers, pens, and all sorts of things, but now what? It’s overwhelming, isn't it? Don’t worry, I am here to help!
Try one of these ideas to start using that planner without rushing into full planner chaos!
Track your daily tasks.
Every morning when you get up, create a list of tasks you have to do and cross it off as you go! It gives a wonderful sense of accomplishment at the end of the day! Another option is writing your finished tasks at the end of the day and then crossing them off. It still counts as finishing tasks and you get to use that planner!

Track your monthly habits.
Don’t go too wild and set a bunch of habits to track in your planner. Start small with just one so you can get used to tracking it. Often having a visual of habit completion makes it easier to build a new habit! Once you get used to tracking that one habit, you can add to it as the weeks or months go on.
Decorate your planner just for fun.
You don’t have to use each day, week or month for work or projects. Having some fun pages spread through will bring you more planner joy. Decorating your planner still counts as using it because creativity is such an incredible way to relax. Pick a theme for the day or week and have some fun embracing your inner child with stickers and decorating away!
Track the books you read!
With the rise of BookTok and Bookstagram, tracking your reading in your planner is an excellent way to add to your lanner. Use stickers or fun pens to track the titles, authors and even your fave quotes! This is also great if your memory comes and goes!
Celebrate those fun and random holidays!
Did you know that there is a fun and random holiday for every day of the year? It’s a great way to bring play to not only your planner but your day too!
Use it for washi tape swatches!
Print out or draw simple images in your planner or back pages and “fill them in” with washi tape. It’s like colouring but with pretty tape instead! Plus, it gives you a reason to use up all that gorgeous tape! You can even just do swatches like I have done below so you can see a full picture of what you have!
