A Scandinavian Adventure- The Heartland Blog Tour

When Pat Bravo put the “Call for Makers” up on Instagram I thought “hmm I wonder if I could participate again?” So I did as needed, signed up and low and behold, I was chosen again! The last time I participated in her blog tour was for her Dare fabrics and this time I fell equally in love! Why? The owls! Who Doesn’t love owls!

If you haven’t seen her Heartland Line yet, it’s inspired by Scandinavian designs and decor. When I set out to follow that Scandinavian theme, I had no idea what I was looking for. It turns out it’s triangles, lots and lots of triangles are in that style! Off to Quilt Assistant I ran, to create my own fun and unique design. I wanted something modern because well, that’s just me!

The fabrics in this line look so beautiful together even though each one is different! What you can’t tell from that photo above is that those grey fabrics actually have little metallic triangles on them! How cool is that?

But those owls, who doesn’t love these adorable little owls! Oh and the pink, I love the shades of pink in this line!

This quilt is the largest that I have made coming in at 50in by 60in making it the perfect lap quilt! It’s also the second time I have ever gotten creative with the quilting. I’m pretty proud of my points but mostly these waves! Oh and for the record, my trusty old standard Kenmore sewing machine did all this fancy quilting!

For the backing I got a little creative as well, I may have taken the triangles a little far!

Want to know the craziest part of this quilt? I made it in 2 full days from start to finish! Over 8 hours of machine sewing and the back of my binding took about 2 hours sewing by hand! I’m really going to treasure this pretty thing forever!

Until the weather gets cool enough to really snuggle up and enjoy this quilt, she’s got a new home on my playroom/studio couch right under her little sister from the last tour! The fabrics conveniently go perfectly together!
