Over the past month I have been very busy collecting items, altering dresses and preparing for the upcoming Christmas Craft Shows/Events I will be attending!I thought everyone could use a little update so you all could see just what I have been up to and why my blog updates have been few.
The biggest update I have to share is for an apron I have been commissioned to create. Hello, Sugar! Custom Cupcakes asked me to create a custom apron for her new business and without question I said yes! I am going to be embroidering her business name on the apron bib in a font she chose and so far things are going smoothly! The photo to the right shows the selection of supplies that were chosen in colours she had suggested she would like. We got very lucky finding the cupcake fabric as she chose pink and brown polka dots for her colour/pattern choices, she said they reminded her of sprinkles on a cupcake! I will be posting more updates of the apron as the embroidery is finished and the apron is completed!
Now some fun new supplies I have purchased! First up is some cotton fat quarters of this fun and funky bird pattern which leads into my next supply: small canvases and little round wooden pendants/keycharms. My plan is to paint some of these little guys with birds, mushrooms and flowers inspired by this fabric. It will be a fun little painting project I am looking forward to!
For the trade show in November at The Tradewinds Centre, they’ve asked vendors to pitch in a little something for gift bags they will be giving out the the first 50 people each day. (May change to the first 100 on Saturday only, a final decision has not yet been made!) Coming up with a 100 items sounded pretty daunting to me so I went on a search for something quick and easy to make! That’s when I discovered sparklycreations on Etsy.com. This store was filled with little charms, beads and all kinds of little things so I went on a search for some Little Birds! I can across these charms and knew right away I had to have them. Combined with the cell phone/zipper pull straps, I am going to attach these charms with some beading as well! The store owner was very helpful and friendly with putting together and order for me very quickly. To make it even better they are a Canadian business so my order only took about a week to get to me! Be sure to check sparklycreations out if you are a crafter yourself!
Now I have saved the best for last! For as long as I can remember I have wanted some sort of stamp/sticker/logo/branding I could place onto my bags for customers at shows. I thought of having something made but it started to get very pricey so I began looking into custom stamps. A quick look through Etsy and I found many designs and stores offering the perfect stamp or even custom made ones but again the price just was not what I was willing to pay for… I could make it myself right? Well turns out I could! A little blank stamp pad, a craft knife and some Googling and I was ready to try it out. Turns out that even with the basic of supplies, carving a stamp was relatively simple. This one is the first I came up with then went on to carve 3 more. You’ll see those ones stamped once I purchase my bags for the show! This proved to be a very addicting craft that I am itching to carve more because really, you can’t do too many crafts right?
Well I hope you have all enjoyed my update! I’m off to do some more embroidery on that lovely custom apron. Before I sign off, I was curious, is there any items I haven’t created in awhile you would love to see more of? Comment below with any thoughts or suggestions you might have!Happy Creating 🙂
